I'm gobsmacked that a chain like Starbucks would make a mistake like this, but more upset at the inane comments after the article.  I think the walk down the road to the Spurriergate centre is even more attractive now!

Was just preparing to make a comment of my own to balance out the morons, when they closed the comments section and you can't view them any more.

Probably a good thing though - if one more person said something ridiculous about how its not the point that you can't see anything on show because just the fact that it is happening makes them uncomfortable , I think I might have thrown the laptop across the room. I think I find that more frustrating than the eejits that object to it as they think they'll get a huge eyeful of boob if someone is feeding nearby and it'll put them off their latte.

My flabber is well and truly ghasted!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe I'm being naive but I didn't even know people could think this way!  "the fact that I know it's going on..." shut up moron!  Poor woman.  I pity any of these fools to so much look at me the wrong way whlst feeding my child.  In the toilets indeed!  D used to feed for a hour in the early days so that'd be some queue!

    Shocking!

I was so impressed that a young mum ( I think the article says she is 21) was breast feeding and so upset that she or others like her could be put off by such morons.  I never had a single comment when I was bfing B, and I will be very sure not to let anyone put me off when bump is here in the next few weeks, but I am quite good at standing up to people that challenge me over stuff like this.  I've been thinking about this all night - agghhhh!

That poor woman. Its hard enough trying to feed a baby that tiny, and getting over the worrying about bf'ing in public. I would have also cried if I'd have been told not to do it, probably still would! How ignorant of that staff, and as for the comments, clearly uneducated fools.

Does anyone know if there are any laws protecting  bf'ing older babies? E is now 7 months and I worry that if I was told not to feed i wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

Actually, you have two legs to stand on - yours!!!  And a bum to sit on.  Anyone tells me not to BF my 9 month old, and they'll talking to the hand, cos the baby ain't listening!!!

I was shocked to read this, but even more shocked about some of the comments. I really can't understand how some people find bf'ing offensive? Especially since you can't usually see anything, it's not like we sit there completely topless ffs.

This comment did make me laugh though 'Starbucks probably can't stand the idea of anyone getting a decent drink on their premises for less than £2.00.' Laugh

It's so sad the efect this article will have on people though. In my experience one of the biggest thing a newly breastfeeding mother worries about, is feeding on public. Even though Starbucks have apologised, the responses afterwards will put women off Sad

Reading these comments have made me feel quire sad.  It relly has put a damper on a day where I spent all morning talking to mums to be about breastfeeding and where to get support.  On a plus note I did speak to quite a few young really young girls who were going to try and breast feed.
