So, I suppose while I’ve got 5 mins at work I should really do my report… so y’ere tis!
Wednesday 23rd (the day before)
We all trundled down to the beach at 11.30 am for ‘the rehearsal’…my god it was hot, so much for a sea breeze! The rehearsal was more of a very (and I mean very) brief chat through the ceremony and a quick waffle about decorations before my planner decided that we knew enough and left us to it… we actually had no idea what to expect, which was partly quite exciting, but partly a bit odd…hey ho that’s the Portuguese way!
After a bit of sunbathing Pingu and I checked into our hotel for the night – we had been staying in a lovely house on the same complex as Mr T’s family. We went back to the house to get ready and said goodbye to Mr T and Mr P as they went off for curry and drinks. The first person I saw at my ‘hen’ do was my mum and she’d dressed in a comedy turquoise shell suit & spangly gold top…to embarrass me, she wanted to do it for the wedding but Dad wouldn’t let her LOL, plus I knew she’d bought a lovely dress anyway.

There were about 9 of us and it was really nice, but because a few of the guests were of the older variety so after the meal they decided to go back to Mr T’s mums house and have drinks, I walked my mum home and Pingu and my other friend came and met me back and said lets’ go for a quickie before we go to the house…so sneaky cocktails it was!

It was all a bit dull when we got to the house and were quite relieved when we got a text from the boys to say they were back at the cocktail bar…cue lots of scary cocktails and the local firewater shots!!...Mr T was hammered…never ever seen him that bad and it was hilarious!!!
Pingu & I went off to our hotel room all excited, a bit giddy and not too drunk!
Thursday 24th (the wedding day)
Today begins with a bit TMI…
It started at 5.20am when I woke and my nerves kicked in, so began the wedding day poo tag team, I don’t think there was a 30 min gap when there wasn’t one of us in the loo…not good! I really didn’t think I was that nervous in my head, but my body was telling me a whole different story.
At 9am we went down for brekky and I couldn’t stomach a thing, in the end I managed not even a ¼ of a croissant and some juice – we had loads of time before having to check into the posh hotel across the road to get ready so we decided to lounge by the pool and read which was really lovely and chilled. When we had checked into said posh hotel, I had booked us in for a massage each because I knew that if I wasn’t told to do something I’d be down that beach or at the restaurant trying to help decorate or something.
The massage was sensational, and just what I needed (I knew there were some issues with the flowers, but I was too relaxed to be bothered tbh)…then it got a bit frantic…
The hairdresser and make-up ladies turned up and I hadn’t managed any lunch so I sat and scoffed a massive sandwich which seemed to do the trick. We were struggling a bit for time but it didn’t matter and Mum and Dad came to the room to help us get ready which was great, especially when I turned around and dad was wearing a wicked pink shirt!!!

I had my first blub of the day…had just got into my dress and caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror…it was at that point I did flappy hands, looking up at the sky and other assorted gestures to make sure I didn’t ruin my make up. I just wasn’t expecting to look quite so good!

We had to wait for our planner to collect the Registrar from his office so we got to the beach a bit later than planned. The first thing that was a bit of a shock was the fact that the beach was packed…and I mean heaving. We were told that it would be very quiet at that time of day, but because of the gorgeous weather people had stayed late…but I can’t say that I didn’t love the attention J
As I walked along the boardwalk I was grinning like a cat of the Cheshire variety…until I saw Mr T, then it was blub action again, but being a hitcher I held myself together and grinned like a loon once again.
There ceremony was quite short, I was really glad that we put in our own vows as it made it much more personal to us…the only problem was that I couldn’t stop crying, it was actually quite amusing as I’m not normally that emotional!

The saying of the day came from the registrar…”You don’t sign anything, it is all digital” which I don’t think mum was too impressed with (being traditional). We didn’t sign our lives away we just made equal promises to each other which I thought was a lovely idea.

We all had glasses of champagne with Hibiscus flowers in and other non-alcoholic cocktails while the photo’s were being taking…these sort of turned into a bit of a ‘rock the frock’ but this was our only opportunity to do it the way we wanted to!

Everyone met back at the restaurant and so the evening began. The speeches were excellent, I know that Mr T had only written his about 20mins before the ceremony, but it was lovely and did the job. My dad’s speech was very amusing and Dan’s father did the speech in place of the best man (as there wasn’t one) and that was really good too! We had 7/8 courses throughout the evening which was perfect, with loads of time for drinking and chatting between each course. I got my friend to make balloon models…and all those of you who don’t like them…have a re-think because I’ve never seen so many people having so much fun with balloons in all kinds of shapes and sizes.

I think the mini disco started at about 11pm and we danced ‘til 2am…could have gone on longer but it was just me left on the dancefloor, so me and Mr T went to make the most of our posh hotel room!!!
All in all…it was brilliant, loved it, so much fun, so relaxed…I’d do it again in a heartbeat
