It's been nearly 9 months now of sitting on the sofa holding my baby on my lap every bloody night until she's ready to go to bed (usually after 11pm) .  She won't take a bottle of any sort or even milk in a cup so I've had no breaks in all this time at all.  All I want is an evening where I can sit comfortably with noone on my lap - go the the toilet when I want and not have someone crying just because I dared spend 2 minutes away from them.

I had the same thing with my first and thought this time would be different but it itsn't and I'm fed up of it and knackered.  She doesn't nap at all (had only 0.5 hours split over 2 naps today) and goes to bed at 11 or later and wakes up in the night sometimes and is usually awake at around 5 in the morning.  Does this child not need sleep because I need to.

Sorry, rant over.  I know I'm lucky to have her and do appreciate that but I'm just tired and fed up.

Thanks zebra, it's hellish isn't it sometimes.  No cup of tea, but I do have a glass of red wine on the table but not sure if I should drink it if she's going to be fussy and wake up a lot tonight.

    That's hard Hug

I thought S was bad enough  (she's almost 10 months), also a BFed baby.  She was taking a bottle fine on child minder days when I'm at work, but this week has gone on bottle and beaker strike, so is pretty much dehydrating herself all day until I get home around 6pm, having left the house at 7am.  So on wirk nights, she then wants to feed all evening and most of the night, and is also newly refusing to feed laying down, so I am beyond knackered and effing fed up with it.

I can't imagine how you most feel with 9 months of it though.  One week has been bad enough for me.  At least she doesn't mind being on her own, so I'm not holding her all the time.

I don't know the answer for you, but I hope things change for you soon and you get some 'you time' back again.

Thanks, I was having a bad night of it last night and am hoping tonight will be better.  She's just nodded off on my lap so fingers crossed.  Still can't move now though.  It's going to get to a point where's she's just too big to fit on my lap so we're going to have to do something about this sooner or later aren't we.

    Cheers Monkey Fingers.

Ah well, so much for that attempt -- been feeding her/holding her all evening and husband has just tried to take her upstairs but no chance as she's now crying to back to the drawing board and yet more feeding and holding.

How do other people cope with this?  How do you get them to bed?
