  • New York Restaurant Reccomendations?

Hi I was wondering if anyone on hitched would be able to help me.

My H and i are going to New York for my 30th Birthday (without our 3 year old - eeeekkkkk)!!!! for 5 days. Does anyone have any recs for restaurants out there? We would one day like to go to a really "nice" restaurant - can anyone reccomend one which would cater well for me (i am a vegetarian) as the really nice ones dont seem to cater much for veggies (my h isnt a veggie). Any other restaurants for whilst we are there would be great - in Little Italy etc. Also a lot of people have said to defo walk accross Broklyn Bridge at night - is this good? Thanks a lot x

Mr W aand I love this place - the food is fantastic, and there's loads of great bars nearby as it is in Greenwich Village.

Walking across Brooklyn Bridge at any time is good - the views of Manhattan are great. Also, once you get to Brooklyn don't just trun around and come back, have a wander around Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill.

    Ha! Begone you daft tickers!

You HAVE to go to the View, its at the top of the Marriot Marquis. Send them an email or give them a ring to book, and tell them its for a special occassion and could you have a window seat. You will see why when you get there!! Its amazing, we went for my husbands birthday and he loved it. Cocktails and food are great but even better are the puddings!!!

We also went to Gordon Ramseys restaurant called The London, but I think the View was better, both for ambience and food.

    Hope that helps xxx

The walk across Brooklyn Bridge is well worth doing. And while you're over there, Dresslers in Williamsburg isamazing, had one of the best meals I've ever had there.

Can also highly recommend The Garage and Asia De Cuba. Think both cater for veggies, check out menus on tinterweb

I went for my 30th Birthday 2 years ago now.

We went to Serendipity which is more famous for its dessert - the frozen hot chocolate is to die for!!  It has been in lots of movies and you may need to book.  We had a lovely time there and found by accident at the end of the road it is on there is a cable car over to Rosevelt Island which is well worth the ride for its amazing views.  Serrendipity is up by Bloomingdales.

So jealous as I would love to go back!

i am not a veggie, but the best meal i have eaten in recent history, which i am still fantasising about, was a few weeks ago in NY in the meat packing district, called The Spice Market.  Indonesian fusion, stunning restaurant, and food.... oh. my.  do you eat fish??? The "shaved tuna" which was served in a cold coconut broth was just totally off the scale.

It's next to soho house - 13 and 9th i think....yeah -  http://www.spicemarketnewyork.com/ pics don't do it justice, it was really lovely.  Service impeccable as well.

Gordon Ramsay's Maze at The London was utter utter crap, just in case that comes up as a maybe.

We also ate at Buddakan which was great too. http://www.buddakan.com/   also aisan food -  Not sure about how that fayres for veggies though...

Have a great time.  I went for the first time in Aug, and totally totally totally fcuking loved it!!! ARGH. i wanna go back there immediately! (for more shaved tuna.... aaaahhhhhhh!!!!)

    budget?

Per se is the best place but its about $500 per head, Hearth is lovely if you want something more low key, there are a few Nobu's which are always good (I'm off to Nobu 57 tonight actually), Momofuku is fabulous but its impossible to get a table unless you know how, Blue Ribbon (ignore naff name) is always great but does not take reservations, Blue Hill is also great, 11 Madison is lush but quite corporatey, Pastis is super trendy and the food is good but a little overpriced.....
