I'm actually a little worried about this ad - it is a common myth that eating somehow sobers you up...
Yes, food will take you longer to metabolise the alcohol, due to the fact that it'll sit on the food in your stomach, and so take longer to even enter your bloodstream.
The problem comes when it comes to driving - again, the general consensus is that if you eat something it will "sober you up" and make you safer to drive - THIS IS NOT TRUE! it will in fact mean that you could be over the drink driving limit for LONGER! a large meal with a bottle of wine, could see you still over the limit the next morning.
If not driving, then yes, some food may make you FEEL better - and perhaps the full effects of the alcohol wouldn't take hold whilst you're still out and about.
