Which bedtime stories do you dislike reading?

I loathe and detest Mr Men books. The original ones are just about bearable but the new ones (Little Miss Trouble and the Mermaid springs to mind) are terrible. I can't read a page without yawning!

I'm also not a fan of TV books like Peppa Pig.

Which books send you to sleep alongside your child?

I hate, hate, hate Mog the forgetful Cat.

Words cannot describe how much I hate it. I have no idea why.

I can't stand 'We're going on a Bear Hunt'.  So repetitive!!

I hate The Tiger that came to Tea. Just find it rather boring.

I am very much over reading "Toby had a little lamb" - of the Thomas books. My LO loves it but if I never read it again it will be too soon. I still love reading The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo's Child though.

We only have books I like reading!  The others seem to go missing.......

Me too. Aoife loves it though and shouts "Raaarrrrr" everytime she sees the tiger but I have to read it over and over and over again.

I like The Gruffalo but sadly Aoife doesn't!

Funnily enough, Little Miss Trouble and the Mermaid, along with Little Miss Sunshine and the Witch, both seem to have vanished. They couldn't be found at bedtime... I do hope they haven't fallen into the charity shop bag.

It's funny reading other people's dislikes. I could happily read Bearhunt and Tiger who came to tea every night!

We have a lot of Tiger here too, anyone else think Sophie's mummy is a little too fond of the gin?

India has some very twee books called things like friends and small that are awful

pink munky - I'm still laughing about Sophie's mum and the gin.  I get your point.  Entirely.

Well, you lot moaning about such delights as The Tiger that Came to Tea, The Gruffalo, Mr Men etc you clearly have never been inflicted with "Farmer Dan and his Big Brother Stan".  It is hideous.  And Archie loves it.  We nearly held a party, during Archie's recent stay in hospital, when we temporarily lost the book only for it to be found again

He is now inflicting it on his 4 month old sister.  He demands I read it to them both.  The poor girl.

We have a set of 8 In the Night Garden books which are much loved, by him. I am so bored by them as it just keeps repeating itself over and over again.

Jez Alborough.  We love Fix It Duck (well, I do...I'm definitely more keen than A!) and Duck in the Truck.  

A's got a book that we got from the library (we bought it for 20p) called, "Richard Scarry's Busy Busy World" or something.  He ADORES it.  Every night, we have to read it, but we don't actually read it, we just talk about the (very busy) pictures.  It was ok at first, but blimey, it's dull now. Lol.

We have the original Aliens love underpants, think I know it word for word, def a fav here, must get the new one for xmas.  I dread "All change" though, it seems like it should be good and trys to rhyme like gruffalo etc but fails miserably and typically Abigail always wants it!
