  • 14 weeks old chewing hands off - teething?

    1

My 14 week old is chewing his hands off.  He's not hungry.  Could he be teething and what can I do to help?

    unlikely, although not impossible

the 'stuffing hands in mouth' is a big developmental stage, followed shortly by the 'stuffing everything in mouth' phase (which isn't a sign they are ready for solids) with the 'drooling all over the place' somewhere in between

Could be, all three of mine have been early teethers although with the first two teeth didn't appear till 7.5 and 7 months, Maisie is frantic today chewing, dribbling, red cheeks, bad tempered etc. I have given her calpol as she seemed to be in pain, when I find them later I will give her half a teething powder.

hmmm  he is kinda red but he has milk rash also so could just be that.  He does dribble but is really sick all the time so I put it down to that.  maybe it's a developmental thing then.  he's quite happily watching the simpsons at the moment Embarrassed

I could have written the same post about my 12 week old son.  He has lots of milk spots and is constantly dribbling, unsettled and putting his fists in his mouth.  I am suspecting teething as when I put my finger in his mouth he bite really hard on it.  I have also noticed that his latch is a little more uncomfortable too.

S is 7 weeks old and has discovered the delights of her own hand - it's constantly in there.  She seems happy enough and uses it to self settle, so I'm not complaining Laugh
