I couldn't care less about swearing, but it must have taken me ten minutes and at least a dozen failed attempts to access page two of this thread.

To worry about what advertisers think about swearing when the forums clearly have major and ongoing technical issues that are demonstrably driving people away makes Nero seem like a model of effective project management.

    Sunset21:

I just want the days of yellowness, speedy posting and humour back to Hitched.  Sadly I think my Hitched days may be numbered, the posting is hideously slow, i've been on since 9am and have only just managed to get past the awful heart and timer and we're not even allowed a few naughty words to describe our disgust at it all.  So long, farewell, auf widersehen, goooooodbyyyyyeeeee Laugh

    What sunset said.

Darren, the speed of this site is terrible. It's one of the reasons many people don't bother to post on here anymore.

I don't want to 'leave' as I have made some great friends, but it is SO frustrating when I try to reply or post topics and it takes ages and ages to do so. It's really bad and I am getting fed up.

Who has complained about swearing anyway? Ridiculous, it's not like there are any children who post on here.

    Exactly what they said.

I've been using this forum for about 7 years and want the good old days back too Sad

I agree totally with Lois and I'm annoyed if this is purely down to the post on WP. Really? Fookers? Purlease! FFS!

  • Re: please read this. It is very important...

There is a response from Darren on the thread on the feedback problem - if you can access it.  I've been meaning to tell you all but I've had similar experience as Mr JK in trying to do so.

I'm off to stop wasting my time on this.

just wasted my Bl**dy F**king lunch break  trying to get on and post on this stupid forum,,AAAAAGGGGHHHH!!!!

  • Re: please read this. It is very important...

2 days it's taken me to actually get into hitched, let alone successfully post a reply!

And this is the first post I see.  Fabulous Cry.

Sadly, I have to agree with Sunset21.  I think my days here are numbered too.

The lack of humour, old-time hitchers, smut-friday and the totally inability to post anything... are really starting to outway any benefits Hitched may have offered in the past.

Is there anywhere else that people are frequenting nowdays?  I've made some fabulous friends on here and would hate to lose touch altogether.

Without even knowing, you've all gotten me through some tough times.

You're more than welcome here, as is anyone else struggling to post on Hitched at the moment.

Just back from my hols today and was devasted that the Hitched forums were down, yeah for my rock 'n roll life Laugh

Hopefully the new server will do the trick <fingers crossed> I love this place and the people on it and would hate to lose it.

Maybe i'm immune to things but i've never noticed a problem with swearing on hitched? I've never known or had a desire to override the filter, but anyway, as someone else said before, the site is for adults only?

I'm not on facebook etc.. so thanks for the link Mel, i've bookmarked justincase.

Ditto. As Maybeknot so beautifully pointed out - you get what you pay for. Sums Hitched up at the moment.

    Darren

How about reading the forums once in a while and understanding the context rather than just simply pissing off the bulk of your established user base?  Although clearly it's becoming nigh on impossible to do just that given the massive shower of the brown stuff that Hitched has been since you redesigned the site and put this hideous forum together.

Yes, I know it's a free resource but every now and again, users like to click on the banner ads that might be of use.  I've no idea how much you make from them but surely maintaining a decent population of regular users is key to your income stream?  I note with interest that you're still touting yourself as number 1 website from hitwise in 2007.  Yes, that's 2007.

If swearing is that much of a big deal, appoint some Nazi moderators and have done with it.  Otherwise, please do feel free to stop communicating with the users of this forum like they're a bunch of naughty school children.

    Yours,

    Barongreenback.

    P.S.  Fuck

    Darren,

In all honesty, I think for the time being, it might have to be accepted that this forum has ground to a halt.  Traffic on this forum, especially compared to how it used to be, is virtually non-existant.  Hitched has been a source of much support and fun over the years and being on this forum, your advertisers have benefited from at least some of my business.  I sincerely hope for your sake you manage to turn this situation around.  Your server upgrade, whilst clearly effective to some extent in speeding up the forum, may prove to be too little to late.  Your silence on this matter is what has upset people the most and shows that admin of this site is incredibly unprofessional.  Advertisers have already expressed their concern and rightly so.  Your forum users ARE your customers and you've shown virtually no regard for us.

It's really sad to see after some 7 years of being on these forums.

  • Re: please read this. It is very important...

Stop treating the forums in general (& OT more particularly) as a necessary evil and show the users a little respect.

I'm only on this morning to tell people that there is an alternative site available, Mel posted a link to it earlier on this thread.

I like a good swear, I suspect the majority of users aren't fussed either way. Mr Stephen Fry has a web-site, it's quite popular. The casual observer might think that users of that forum are reasonably intelligent. Swearing is allowed on those forums. He also quite likes swearing himself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_osQvkeNRM

  • Re: please read this. It is very important...

Ok, I've been on and off these forums for nearly 9 years (just call me very sad).

And to be totally honest very little has changed in Darrens attitude. From things said, he likes the forums BUT they don't bring in anything other than website hits. Website hits means he can sell the website to more advertisers. However advertisers (or potential) getting their knickers in a twist and stirring up bird poo amongst others, is always going to get Darren to side with the money paying folks.

This is how things were back in the olden days and it has not changed. And it never will. The OT folks can move elsewhere as they often do (and this has happened a few times). BUT girls will get married and will still visit the original wedding planning forums (as was the original intention OT and later BT were added as we kept hasseling Darren for them - but they were never going to be money spinners)

I guess what Im trying to say, rant and complain all you like but unless you are paying Darren advertising, then be prepared to be ignored as OT was never going to be his priority. But yes I do understand website functionality is importtant to the Wedding planning side

I honestly couldn't believe this post when I (eventually) got on to read it.  It really is the last straw isn't it?  With this, the FYEO drivel the other day and the chronically slow forum/ difficulty of use in general and the wall of silence when our problems with it are brought up/questions are asked - but a complaint by a random dove release fooker nut gets this?
