  • Staying at Gatwick overnight how easy is Brighton to get to ?

    Evening

Myself and my son ( 12 ) are staying at the sofitel hotel at Gatwick airport for a flight the following day.

I am pondering on what to do as we could have the full day to do something. I have never been to Brighton but am sure its the Brighton train we have to get to Gatwick. How far on the train is Brighton? Would it be worth a visist next Tue for a evening ie 4pm to 8pm ?

    Thanks in adavance x

It's 30 mins from Gatwick if you get the fast train. I'd probably go for the visit, if only because Gatwick is so dull!

    Thanks for the response.

I have just checked on the train website and your right its arouns 30 mins so could be well worth a visit. Its either that or spend the evening at the hotel / airport and although we have a room with runway views you can only watch so many planses take off and land lol.

    Is Brighton very livelly ?

When you come out of the station, walk all the way down the hill to the Seafront, you can't miss it, it's straight ahead.  When you reach the pebbles, turn left and you'll see the pier, perfect on a summer evening as the lights and music will be playing, wander up it, have an ice-cream watch the rides, wander back down again.  Turn back left again to come back to the road you walked down from the station, but this time go down the steps right on to the beach and wander past all the little shops, cafes and art galleries in the arches.  Much better than sitting in an airport hotel for the evening
