  • Restaurant Recs - Greenwich or Isle of Dogs

Heyulp please. I'm meeting friends for lunch on Saturday and have offered to find a reasonable, child friendly restaurant for lunch. Top table is not being my friend - any recs (that will be open on Sat, which seems to be the other problem!)

    Heylo

San maguiel in greenwich- nice, fun tapas. the food is really good- get a bit loud at night but fine in the day. good cocktails too.

Outside canary wharf I'd not bother too much with IOD TBH. There are some nice places but very scattered and some of it is rough as toast (new favorite phrase)

er, where else? there is a cafe rouge in greenwich if you want dependable, and the pub grub is generally good.

This seems to be the problem - All bar CW on the dogs closes down for the weekend and Greenwich turns into tourist hell hole food wise.

Thanks for that - tapas is def a possibility, or there's the naval college (if its open) which looks surprisingly reasonable and nice - http://www.oldroyalnavalcollege.org/data/files/kw-july-09-78.pdf

I did think of that but couldn't remember the name. I went there with my Mum years ago and it was good.

If you need to be in the area but want to avoid tourist hell there is a (better) tapas in charlton, on charlton church lane, called chu and cho. Might be worth googling to check its still open, but the food is great, really relaxed and family run. Its a stop from Greenwich on the train. I used to live opposite it!

Or Blackheath- horribly over rated but shouldn't be too busy. Chapter 1 is nice there,

I'll email if i think of anywhere else,.....

The chinese just outside the front entrance to excel is excellent....pop in and they give you a parking permit to leave your car outside the front....

Also, the Express Holiday Inn (just south of the Blackwall tunnel) has a Chinese restaurant that is excellent too. (I did a Thai wedding there). You find that both here and my previous suggestion are heavily frequented by Chinese people....which I guess is a good recommendation...

In Greenwich I rather liked North Pole Piano Restaurant - nice reasonably priced food and it has 3 floors, restaurant at the top, bar on the ground floor and a jazz club in the basement.
