    Hey Jen...I'm in Leicester.

You'd be better posting this on the "Wedding Planning" forum.

Hotel with three course meal for 100 guests, DJ, ceremony room, balloons for the evening party and honeymoon room for the wedding night.  £1700

    Photographer £800

Dress-special offer-dress, veil, tiara, hoop all for £499.  Different Tiara £15 cause I didn't like the one in the package.

    Favours £70

    Flowers £150

Husband used his own uniform. Two bridesmaids £110 internet specials.

    Cake -- M&S £100 Brooches on cake £10 each ribbon £2

    Invitations £40

    Gifts £400

I made the invites, place cards, cake and favours myself.  My friends played the service music.  Some pipes and some on piano.

Try to get people to help you out where ever you can.  good luck

Hi there and welcome to the forum.  Have you taken a look at the Ramada Jarvis Granby Hotel - they do weddings for under £3k for a full wedding breakfast etc.  I've attached their link to a brochure.  This hotel is lovely inside and the function rooms are tastefully decorated.  There is a massive sweeping staircase which would be great for pics.

http://www.ramadajarvis.co.uk/uploadedFiles/WeddingBrochure2009Leicester.pdf    you could also haggle bearing in mind your budget and see what they come back with

Hope you manage to get sorted.  You could try the City Rooms too but they don't have any prices on their website so it would be a case of giving them your wedding budget  and let them do the maths and see what they can do!

You could also check out venues outside of Leicester as you're looking at August and a barbeque as your meal is a great way to save money which is something the city hotels don't have as they just don't have the gardens!

Here's one I found its called Westfield House Hotel and they do packages from a £1000 http://www.bespokehotels.com/hotel/pages/westfield/weddings.htm it seems to have some good reviews too.

    Good luck V xx

I stayed at the Ramada Jarvis in Leicester around three years ago and the hotel was in an appalling state. My room didn't even have a sink in it and was beyond basic. A colleague had been to a wedding there 4 weeks before this and the couple had received awful service during the evening. To cap it off, the hotel had even given away the bridal suite to another couple with a similar surname....so the happy couple had to endure a basic room similar to what I had on their wedding night.......

It may have improved, although be very wary before booking here.

Hi, I am also getting married next year. Myself and my fiance have got an even smaller budget of £3000. but it can be done. Making your own stationery is one idea, we have managed to get it down to approximately £30 - £40. Alot of discount stores and pound stores have various items, saving a great deal: such as placecards, cake boxes, serviettes, balloons, etc. Shop around for special offers and compare prices.

well i am getting my mum to make my cake, we are hiring a photographer that is just giving us a dvd of the images so we dont pay a fortune for him to make an album that we can make ourselves, im not having a car, because lets face it nobody sees it unless you are having 2 separate venues, im making my own invitations and stationary. dont scimp on the dress or venue because they are what people notice most :)

Hi im getting married in October and we saved a fortune by making our own invites. It adds a personal touch and they looked really professional the hand crafted card company is good for things like this.

Also i agree with snap that you shouldnt skimp on your dress or venue as these are the 2 big things that people notice.
