Probable hoax text - can someone confirm so I can respond?

I've recieved one of those rubbish texts stating the following, I've left the text speak in for effect!

"If anyone stops u n asks if ure interested in some perfume then hands u paper 2 smell it, DON'T. Its a New scam, its laced With some drug and u will pass out n then they mug u.  forward 2 all ladies cos this happened recently on numerous occasions in Hull an surrounding areas.  THIS IS TRUE!!!"

Now, my thinking is this is a load of old cobblers but I just wanted to know if any other hitchers had heard of this?  I've checked Snopes and local news sites to no avail.  It's making it's way around my work now too and I'd like to nip it in the bud if it's all rubbish.  Why anyone would just accept some random offering them perfume though I don't know!

I've seen it on Snopes but slightly different as it is a bottle and not paper they use - utter rubbish!

Of course it's not true. If they sign off the text with 'This is true!' then it's almost certainly not. Don't think I'd bother responding or 'nipping it in the bud' though - i'd just delete and tell anyone who mentioned it to me that it's nonsense.

I shall now feel justified in telling anybody who asks me that it's utter shite.

hi  ive had loads of these txts this week as well... all stating birmingham and cannock and walsall ....think its load of rubbish...esp as the towns keep chganging

Lois - I am tempted but she is the wife of one of H's best mates.  She's easily led - the kind who joins these awful facebook groups seeking 'justice' for one thing or another.  Best to just giggle to myself about her believing all she reads...and think of her phone bill being massive since she's bound to have done what the text told her to do!

I got the same text (Hull) from my SIL. I thought she would have nown better as shes in the police!

I had this warning through email. Deleted.
