  • Eczema, any tips?

Izzy has severe eczema.  We have been referred to the dermatologist but the appointment is not until September.  We have tried oilatum in the bath, and as an emollient.  We have also just tried diprobase and diprobath.  Neither seem to touch it.  We have also been prescribed various quartazoid creams because it is infected but it seems to be permanently red and inflamed.  I don't know what to do.  Last time we saw the doctor he said see you in a couple of months, when I asked to be referred he said we wouldnt see him if we have an appointment with the dermatologist so we are now trying to find creams that work on our own.  We are currently washing her with E45 soap and found a vaseline product that is supposed to be good for eczema but this is too oily.  Does anyone have any recommendations?  We have had a look on eczema.org's website and they have a whole list of products we can try but when we asked the doctor if we could try diprobath/base he said all emollients are the same and seemed reluctant to prescribe anything other than oilatum.  The website says the doctor should be happy to try different emollients with us but unfortunately this has not been the case.

see a different GP, that's crap.

We've found different ones work for a time. My main advice is to switch washing stuff to surcare.

I'd second the advice about seeing a different GP.

My 2 have eczema but it's not severe. We were originally given diprobase, but cetraben worked better for us. As they have got older I've been able to keep it under control with Aveeno and no longer need hydrocortisone creams. The thing that made the biggest difference though was not bathing them everyday. The effect was almost immediate.

I hope you find something that works for your LO.

We got prescribed HC cream and Oilatum when Harrys excema was red raw and bleeding I wasnt happy with that and the doctor didnt want to know.

I also suffer with excema well used to when I was younger and the only thing that worked for me was Eumovate cream.

I went to see another doctor and he gave me diprobase and diprobath and eumovate and hey presto in 2 days it went.

So maybe you can try Eumovate and also DEF see another doctor xx
