It's fart here, didn't see the point in skirting the issue, O is very vocal about it so says fart a lot, sounds fine to me.

I had a mind once, now I have small children.

I had to say pass wind and if you weren't alone, it had to be in the bathroom.

The Scottish word is pump but I'm not sure I like that much either. H and I jokingly call them windy pops (as in "ooh, I've got the windy pops tonight" EmbarrassedLaugh) so probably that. My mother will have a fit. ROTFL

She can't cope very well with my friend's son using the word poo. She mentioned one day "he shouted I've done a... well you know, that word his mum lets him use." Weep It was toilets or the toilet in our house. This was the same woman who would also not let me say bum, knickers, fart, pump, trump, belly, belly button, pee....

We use poop in this house, I can't believe we are the only ones, I thought that would be a popular word! I use windy pops usually in reference to burps.

good old fashioned trumps in this house!

  • Re: What do you call "breaking wind"?!!

Its a rumble in our house, pinched from a friend.

    At nursery/pre school its trump.

IMO fart sounds a bit Viz for a child.

  • Re: What do you call "breaking wind"?!!

we call it a fluff or a pump

My mum used to ask "Have you fluffed?"  I still love that word for it. Big Smile

    H calls it a pump

i'm never too fat for new shoes!

  • Re: What do you call "breaking wind"?!!

I also have an irrational dislike of the word fart! As a result of that, as we don't have children yet, we say frup. I think my brother invented it.

In this house, we pump (some more than others!)

it's fart in our house so we're obviously uncouth.
