  • Swine flu has hit our street >:( Oh noes!

Oh noesssss!!!!!!  Quarantine time!!!!  The national news has just announced that a primary school at the back of my house has been closed for a week with immediate effect as 7 pupils have swine flu.  Heyulp!

Can you walk past swine flu sites without keeling over???????

Sorry for the ?!?!??!?!?!? OD - desperate times call for desperate punctuation.

Hmm maybe you are panicking a little bit. Just because its near by doesn't mean you will get it. We had some one at our work place with it, but we were all fine.

The school where I work had 3 confirmed cases of swine flu (boarding school).  They were promtly sent home, fully recovered and are now back at school.  I am fine, the rest of the school was fine.  It's at the back of your house I doubt very much you'll get it unless you are going to personally go up to the children infected, hug them,  kiss them and/or spend time with them.

Love is not about finding someone you can live with but finding someone you can't live without.

So I don't need to dust down the SARS suit and hire an oxygen tent to sleep in just yet?  Weep  I was looking forward to that!

I'm actually not bothered about it at all, but it was SO strange to hear about your vicinity being named and shamed as a pandemic site in such a way Big Smile

My mother is in panic mode as it's within 20 miles of us nowHmm

She thinks I'm naive when I'm not too worried but sees herself as in the know as she works for the nhs...as a secretary!

She "knows" it is getting worse as it's level 6 and "lots of people" are critically ill, and won't be told that actually there's far fewer than with normal flu.

Nothing to panic about.  My children have been off for the past week as their school has been closed due to the flu. I found that the noro virus spread much more quickly and easily.

    A tomato?

He he - your mum has her finger on the pulse, Sare :D

I'm walking across the playground of said school tonight as it's a shortcut to the pub.  I'm contemplating whether to fashion myself a pomade of cleansing herbs, just like they did in the Black Death.  I'll probably return to find my front door daubed with a big red cross by one of the neighbours!

  • Re: Swine flu has hit our street >:( Oh noes!

I'm not panicking abotu swine flu, but I am getting quite anxious about getting it (or any type of flu really) as I have asthma and flu makes anyone feel crappy. Last time I had it was at Christmas a few years ago and I spent Christmas day in bed it was that bad.

Is swine flu spreading faster than normal flu, or is it just because it has gone to so many countries?

JACK: Not for nothing, Jen. But it's only since you've been seeing a psychologist that I'm starting to think you may be in fact crazy. JEN: You wanna go to New York, Jack? JACK: Yes. JEN: Then shut up and watch the fish.

Don't worry about catching it. If you are fit and healthy then it should not cause you any problems.

You are probably better off catching it soon rather than later in the year. My H reckons that it will be worse when it is combined with the normal flu type bugs in the winter.

you mean you have a SARS suit? Laugh I'm jealous!

It's always weird when somewhere you know/live makes the news isn't it?

Your post has really made me chuckle, did you find a big red cross on your door?  or did the pomade work?

You definitely need a SARS suit. Although cake might work. But only in large amounts.

Oooh is there a particular type of cake which helps immunity to swine flu?  or should I just consume as wide as range as possible?  What about chocolate, does that have similar effects?

I've been scoffing cherry cake in the hope that the anthocyanins are doing something positive. According to wiki, they reduce pain and inflammation in rats. I'm not a rat as far as I know but it's worth a shot, right?

cherry cake Stick out tongue I can manage that, gotta be worth a shot!
