  • Eeek. 18.3 kgs. Can anyone recommend a car seat?

The girls wanted to weigh themselves last night and I was amazed to discover Rachel is now 18.3 kgs - last time I weighed her she was only around 16 and it doesn't seem that long ago ... This means she's above the weight limit for her car seat so we'd better go shopping asap!

Am I right in thinking that a booster seat with the normal seatbelt is the only option now? The Britax Evolva with the five point harness is only up to 18kg isn't it?

    Thanks

The Britax Evolva 123 comes with the 5 point harness, but you also get the Britax Evolva 23 which just uses the normal seat belt.  We have this for Carys (who isn't even 3 yet but is very big!)

We have the Evolva 2/3 for MissSun who was 3 last month but is tall/heavy for her age.  It's a fab seat, very easy to put in and out of the car and I think it converts to a booster when she's bigger.  She loves it.

Thanks girls. I've just looked up the Evolva and it says the 5 point harness is only suitable up to 18kgs so looks like we'd be using it as a booster with the seatbelt. It does look like a great car seat though. We've always had Britax ones as they seem so reliable and are comfy too!

You have just reminded me to check O's seat as I weighed him last week!

He has the Maxi Cosi Rodi in Mr PC's car which is a high-back booster that converts to just a booster seat when they're a bit older and it's great. We have got one already in the garage for E!

We've the Isofix version of the Evolva 23, I think it's called a Kidfix now. It's great and I love that it's fixed to the car and doesn't shift around - even when he's not sitting in it.

Sam has this one too and I'd agree, it's great.

I looked into the Evolva but as you say the 5 point harness would have had to have been removed anyway so the higjh backed booster seemed the best option.

    Hi,

I've just had the same problem, my LO is only just 2 1/2, but tips the scales at just over 18kg!

We bought this one http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_904+936_10751_-1_14052_61394_10001_14052?cm_sp=product_lister_page-_-endeca_promotions-_-banner_product Sorry about the long link, don't know how to do sort ones!

Can't recomend it enough, we also have the model before this one for D No1. We bought  ours from our local pram shop.

ISOFIX was a must for us. Wasn't keen on the Britax one as it was so bulky and at times we do need to get another person inbetween the seats in the back, so the Jane was is quite streamlined.

We've got this one too - like GailW I didn't like the thought of the belt having to support James and the car seat. He's been in it since 2.5.

    James * 3.10.05 * 7lb 6.5oz

    Olivia * 29.3.08 * 7lb 11oz

We have the same seat as Jaw, and it's fab (although ours is in pink)

Holly has been in it since last summer and it's fab
