Midnight Blue flowers

Hey

I'm getting married next year and having a midnight blue theme. I've managed to find some great bridesmaids dresses at Debenhams but am really struggling with the flowers.

Does anyone have any ideas of midnight blue flowers whick are around in July?

hello there and welcome to hitched? when in july do you get married, im july 2010 also. cant really be much help on flowers, having my own dilemas about trying to decide what to have with aqua blue. maybe you could have something a bit lighter to contrast? somebody who knows more will be along soon, im just bouncing this up for you really and wanted to say welcome xx

Midnight blue is really popular at the moment, I've done two cakes one last week and one today with a midnight blue theme.  Both brides had white/ivory flowers though.  There aren't that many blue flowers really and I can't think of any that are a really dark blue (the florists will put me right on that one I'm sure though!).  I think you'd be better to go with a contrast otherwise dark dresses and dark flowers might all be a bit too dark together.

Aqua would be hard too. I'm loking to have light blue and white small flowers for the bulk of the bouquets but quite liked the idea of having a couple of big blue flowers in there too.

hi kit, iv been looking into blue orchids, although there not exactly midnight blue. hydrangea (sp?)  also come in pretty shades x

i am having a royal blue theme and have been looking at irises, delphinium flowers and hydrageas as they come in various shades of blue.

I just been having  a look and there is a dark blue rose,however I do not know how available this is .

Have you thought if you cannot find something suitable about having possibly your boquet made and usuing some silk flowers for the dark blue and then you can the colour you are looking for.

Also from what I have read it is possible to have white flowers dyed.

There is also a nice blue flower called delphinium which looks nice there is pic here.

Thanks for all your advice, i think i'm going to go for silk flowers for th bouquet and delphinium for the table centre pieces.

I am a wedding florist and have so far had two or three weddings this year with the colour blue. One bride had Delphiniums in blue and they worked well because they are very soft and floaty and therefore give hint of blue without being to solid.

The other way is to use ribbon, feathers and crystals. I have used these as well as some blue flowers.

There is a blue rose but this is usually dyed and can come off on your hands not to mention your dress! This roses can be very artifical and not very nice.
