  • Feeling like you don't have long left?

I've had Braxton Hicks for weeks and weeks now but since the Wednesday before last they are more frequent and are really intensifying. Last night I really felt like my tummy was about to rip open. And keep getting strong pressure and shocks in my pelvis/cervix(?) I hardly slept last night due to my tummy (Uterus) being really really tight, like a constant Braxton Hicks. Got up at 4.30 and could hardly walk because of the tightness and heaviness today, went to the bathroom to run a bath and had to sit down because the bottom of my bump was feeling really sore (the kind of tight pains you get when you have a really upset tummy IYSWIM)

Am I getting my hopes up thinking it could happen soon or in being worried that something might happen soon?

(I wont be phoning the midwife about this as1- I have a consultant appointment tomorrow, 2- She will only send me to CDS OR tell me (as they always do) well yes thats pregnancy!)

    Hi Lolls Wave

You are only a few days ahead of me and I have been experiencing the same as you.  Braxton hicks galore here - infact I could tell you the times I don't have them more than the times I do.  They seem constant.  I mentioned on the 3rd tri thread today that last night I had one that went on for AGES - very odd- felt like my tummy was going to burst.

I have the MW coming to see me today so I will mention it to her and let you know what she says.

    Thanks HappyGirl. Thanks

I don't want to mention it to hubby coz I think he'll make a fuss (he's getting impatient and telling the baby to hurry up Laugh)

It could be soon or then again it may not. Babies are fickle. I hope for your sake baby is on his way, i know you can't wait much longer bless you.

I had constant niggles like that for a whole week with Robyn. BH's, tummy discomfort etc. I was in and out of Trigage all week. I know it's your first but i'll bet that you'll know when it's time. The day R was born i woke up with the same niggles, but i just didn't want my H to go to work that day. I just knew i wouldn't cope at home on my own for some reason. The niggles got stronger and at around 8am i got ready to go to hospital (consultant lead, 2nd labour meant to be faster, told by triage to go in asap if i felt things progressing).

Hi lolls, I had strong BH's from 30 weeks and delivered at 36 weeks. It was hard to know I was in labour as the BH's had been so strong for weeks anyway, my contractions didn't kick in properly until my waters broke and I was already dilated a bit. Might be worth getting checked out? I also felt strangely uncomfortable and utterly exhausted when labour first started (when I didn't realise it was labour ifswim!).

Why do you want the baby to come early? Hope everything is okay?

I guess I'm not exactly the best person to say given I was in labout 36 hours without knowing!

But the day I was admitted I had a real ache under my bump, and the day  beforeI was actually in labour my boobs had been leaking for the first time. I think it was the pressure I really felt, like a bearing down, and the cramps were the most painful thing I'd ever felt. Fast forward a day when they finally examined me to find I was fully dilated!

Wouldn't like to get your hopes up but it sounds like it could be it!

    Hi Lolls!

Its hard to say but I had the same thing yesterday and apparently last night I was tossing and turning in my sleep and kept holding my tummy.  I don't remember any of this just what H has told me.  I also have a really strong feeling this baby will turn up early but maybe thats just wishful thinking cos I am getting more and more uncomfortable.

I also have no idea what natural labour will feel like as I was induced last time so I can only hope that what you are experiencing is the baby getting ready for birth xx

  • Re: Feeling like you don't have long left?

I dont think it means baby will come early, just your body getting ready. I have exactly 3 weeks to go no braxton hicks, no discomfort, no changes to boobs or leakage either. I am worrying that body does not seem to be getting ready at all! But on the plus side, at least i feel well.

Thanks for your replies everyone. Have felt really weird today, everything just feels really different, so glad I have an appointment tomorrow so I can discuss this with them.

Wave Hiya handbag. Its not that I want him to come early, ideally I'd like him to stay in there until next week minimum so I can have a water birth, or until after 38 weeks as I'm getting new sofa and carpet that week Laugh I am really enjoying being pregnant, have loved everything about it, am really going to miss it Sad

    Hello Wave

Why aren't you on FB???? Laugh

Can sympathise with you.  My bump seems to be permanatly solid at the moment.  Soooo annoying.

Hope you get on okay tomorrow.  Is this when you get your scan??

I was 37 weeks at Christmas and just before I was absolutely convinced that Z would be with us for Xmas. I was getting so many twinges and everything just felt so different.  I think knowing she was engaged as well made me even more convinced.

She was finally born at 40+12 !!!!

Apologies for lack of capital letters - Zoe has stolen my shift key Huh?
