Went to see the vicar and had a massive panic...

as he started with:

"I have some really sad news for you. I am leaving and it turns out it will likely be the week before your wedding"

and the proceeded to go on about a new job for what seemed forever before actually saying, don't worry, someone can do it though.

We are pretty gutted though as he was lovely and we really liked him and the person who will be conducting the ceremony isn't a vicar - although is ordained so it will be legal!

Hope it turns out for the best then...... so if they aint a vicar what areeeeeeeee they called, down there, in Ingerlund?

Oh no! that's not nice. At least you have someone to do it and not left looking for someone else.

Did you get everything else sorted?

She has only been ordained so will just be a deacon (apparently)

She has a normal 9-5 job and gives up time for church things.

Mostly we think. He has said the order of service is fine so can go ahead on that one. Although now have to take off the name saying who is conducting the ceremony :-(

Never mind. At least there's a wedding!

Oh deary! I'd have had a wee panic too!

I'm sure he'll be a good deacon! Could you try and meet him soon?

That's the main thing! We're meeting with our vicar on bank holiday monday, he is a friend of the family so makes things a bit easier.

I have to admit i'd be the same as your oh with the ladyeee deacon. I know most registrars are female but would feel strange a lady vicar marrying me.

whats so strange about it?? No stranger than having women teachers (they all used to be men) and women doctors (they all used to be men)... why should an occupation as old and respected as the others be any different???

I really don't know why. It's what I've been used to I suppose, never been to church or a wedding/christening etc where there has been a lady vicar. Nothing wrong with them doing the job.
