Whitstable is going to be an Iceland, I have no idea what Ashford & Canterbury are going to be ...

  • Re: What's your Woolies?

Balham is a 99p Store. Tooting and Wimbledon not been taken over yet and no signs saying what they're going to be.

Ooh, you're not far from where I used to live.

Mine (Preston) is still empty and not wanted by anyone. One near my brother's (Ulverston) is going to be a Tesco.

    Dooby:

Ours (St Helier, Jersey) is in the middle of being transformed from Woolies to New Look which is quite good as they will be completely new store to the Island.  Big Smile

We'd like ours to be turned into a New Look as my town is very short on clothes shops (we have Tesco and Mackays/M&Co, plus a couple of old-lady fashions types).  However, rumour has it that ours is being turned into a Carpet Right Laugh

Five exclamation marks, the sure sign of an insane mind.     (Pratchett)

I have wondered. I know you're in The Big Smoke and thought you may have done some of your training at a certain hospital just down the road.

Good detective work, I did indeed. And I have many happy memories of curry mile and all number of hideous scummy bars in SW17 Laugh

Those 99p stores aren't half bad actually. I will love them forever for selling G&B's Gingerbread chocolate for 99p (LDO) for a massive slab when they first opened.

Mel - I am going to speak to my cleaner tomorrow for you.

I really wish anywhere in NI would open as a Waitrose, anywhere at all.

Our local woolies is in a bit of a scummy shopping precint, so maybe the pound shop route.

Ours isn't anything yet as they can't get the lease back from the administrators.  I have heard rumours of Iceland though but nothing official.  (I tend to hear of planning things quite early through work)

Our wollies will be an iceland, the simply food store next door has also shut down Sad

  • Re: What's your Woolies?

Ours is still empty too. In the middle of the high street, in an area populated by shops such as Jaegar, Fat Face and Viyella I'm not what will fit in.

We already have a M & S Simply Foods, Waitrose have bought the local Somerfield too and Sainsburys are applying for planning permission to alter another local shop.

We have no primark, Iceland, H & M or TK MAxx tho. but I'm not sure they would fit in.

You might get a Jamie Oliver shop. It's called Reci-peas or something - no word of a lie, there's one in Clapham. Gets my vote for Most Pointless Shop Of The Year. Possibly Of The Century.

Is it an offshoot of his Ministry of Food thing - teaching the people of Clapham how to cook and buy Jamie junk.  http://www.jamieoliver.com/recipease/our-locations/clapham.html
