Wedding venues influence wedding cake designs, says expert

Increasing numbers of couples are moving away from traditional creations when selecting their wedding cake, it has been suggested.

Four Seasons magazine spoke to dessert designer Sylvia Weinstock and claimed brides and grooms are getting more adventurous with their wedding venues, which is affecting their choice of cake.

The expert explained that if the couple decided to tie the knot at a country inn, this would influence the design process and the way the pudding looks.

"I recently had to emulate birch bark on the surface of a cake for an outdoor wedding space," Ms Weinstock continued.

She also said the original wedding cake can be replicated for an anniversary by taking memorable elements of the design before adding symbolic colours and objects depending on the year of marriage being celebrated.

It is not just the cakes themselves that are changing, as Wedding Collectibles recently claimed more and more couples want to make a statement with the toppers used on their desserts.
