Average Brit 'spends £1,800 on a wedding ring'

The average person will spend £1,800 on an engagement ring before sending out
wedding invitations and planning their big day, it has been revealed.
This is according to M&S Money, which also claims that vintage jewellery is becoming an increasingly popular choice.
With this in mind, the financial division of the supermarket has offered some top tips on how brides can keep their special jewels safe.
It recommends that people get rings professionally valued every two years so that they know they are not under-insuring them.
Similarly, precious diamonds that may have been passed down from a great aunt or grandmother should be valued and covered with extra away from home insurance.
David Wells, M&S head of insurance, said that although "many items are irreplaceable because of the memories or a person or an event that are attached to them", proper
wedding insurance can help to replace them.
Recently, comedian David Walliams proposed to his partner Lara Stone with a vintage sparkler.
