Brides choosing 'Marie Antoinette' wedding cakes

Marie Antoinette and the beautiful French Baroque era have become an inspiration for many brides deciding on a wedding cake.

This is according to Eleonora Levinson from Classic Cakes & Confections, who claimed that people are beginning to think outside the box when choosing a dessert.

Speaking to abc15.com, she said that colourful treats which match the tones and textures of a bride's wedding dress are becoming more popular than traditional white desserts.

Crooked cakes and those based on Rococo, a style of 18th century French art and interior design, are also a big trend.

The news provider stated: "Requests often result in elegant multi-tiered masterpieces with textures and colours replicating fabrics and flowers made from sugar cascading down the cake."

If couples do not have a lot of money to spend on a sweet treat at their reception, NWSource recently advised that they can hire a fake dessert for show and serve their guests slices of a cheaper sheet cake.
