Swap wedding cakes 'for macaroons and cookies'

Brides and grooms-to-be will find a range of alternatives on offer if they do not want to go for a traditional
wedding cake.
This is according to Danielle Freedman, editor of DistrictWeddings.com, who suggested that couples could go for petit fours or plates of their favourite cookies instead of a white, tiered cake creation.
"I also love the look of colored macaroons that go with your theme and decor," she commented.
Additionally, brides and grooms-to-be could consider serving a dessert drink with a chocolate-covered cherry or perhaps handing out confectionery with their monogram or the date iced on to it, Ms Freedman added.
Couples with plenty of cash to splash may be interested to learn that the world's most expensive
wedding cake was created in the US last week.
Made by Delicious Cakes and the Dallas Gold and Silver Exchange, the $1.3 million (£805,152) design features dozens of glistening diamonds and a silver dust coating.
