January least popular month for weddings, figures show

New statistics show that January is the least popular time of the year for couples to book a
wedding venue and exchange their vows.
Released by wedding insurance firm Ecclesiastical, the figures revealed that only 1.7 per cent of all marriages take place in the first month of the year.
The second least popular month was February, with 2.4 per cent of ceremonies taking place, while 3.7 per cent occurred in November.
Dave Simms, personal lines managers at Ecclesiastical, said: "The unpopularity of January as a wedding month can't be entirely linked to the weather because December, which can be equally chilly, is almost three times more popular."
Instead, he thinks a lack of funds after the festive period and the post-Christmas blues are a big turn-off for couples and discourage them from sending out
wedding invitations for a January celebration.
In recent days, bride-to-be Kari Polzin told the Victoria Advocate that she thinks people need to plan well in advance for their nuptials and book the location a year ahead of the occasion.
