Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher 'get engaged'

Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher could soon be immersed in wedding planning as it has been revealed that they will tie the knot.

The country music singer and her ice hockey player boyfriend have been dating for about a year although a wedding venue and a date have not been set for the occasion just yet.

It is thought that Mike presented his girlfriend with a ring in front of his parents at his West Carleton home over the weekend.

"It's true," the lucky man said. "We're both obviously excited and very happy and so, exciting times for sure."

A spokesperson added that the couples "couldn't be happier" about their engagement.

While Mike plays ice hockey for the Ottawa Senators, Carrie won the fourth series of American Idol and has released three albums called Some Hearts, Carnival Ride and Play On.
