Jilted bride 'throws party for pensioners'

For most women, donning a wedding dress only to be stood up at the altar is probably their idea of a nightmare.

However, instead of crying and feeling down about her situation, one jilted bride used it as an opportunity to do a good deed.

Writing on her About.com weddings blog, Nina Callaway reports that Teanne Harris decided to throw a party for a nearby retirement home instead of letting her wedding planning go to waste.

She and her mother provided the residents with a buffet dinner and soon had them bopping along to some swing music courtesy of the wedding DJ.

Ms Callaway writes that the guests "reportedly all had a blast" and "Harris herself attended, smiling through her sadness, before leaving for her would-be honeymoon in Hawaii".

In related news, Flowers24Hours.co.uk recently highlighted the importance of selecting a reputable florist ahead of the big day, suggesting that well-established companies could be more reliable.
