Recession 'not stopping couples from spending on weddings'

When it comes to choosing a wedding venue, it seems as though couples are not letting the current economic downturn deter them from selecting the setting of their dreams.

New research released by The Wedding Report has revealed that October was the busiest month of the year so far for country houses, hotels and other such locations.

Furthermore, the statistics showed that couples are not letting money worries hold them back when choosing wedding cake and drinks for their reception guests.

In the second quarter of the year, the average bride and groom spent $1,617 (£986) on the bar service for their wedding. This increased to $2,732 in the third quarter of the year.

Similarly, the amount spent on food to fill the hungry tummies of friends and families went from $2,786 to $4,326 in the same timeframe.

In related news, a recent survey conducted by My Wedding Workbook revealed that 41.3 per cent of brides found sticking to a budget one of the trickiest parts of planning their nuptials.
