Devon couple become oldest newlyweds

A couple from Devon have become the oldest man and woman to tie the knot in the UK.
Les Atwell and Sheila Walsh, who are 94 and 87 respectively and have a combined age of 181, said their I dos in a quiet wedding ceremony with their closest family and friends this week.
After four years of dating, old romantic Les popped the question to Sheila, whom he refers to as his toy girl, outside the same Tesco store where they originally met.
Commenting on the
wedding planning ahead of the ceremony, Les told the Sun: "Once I popped the question it didn't take us long to organise the wedding. When you get to my age, you can't hang around."
The pair are getting ready for their
honeymoon, which will see them set off on a romantic Mediterranean cruise.
This comes after Edward and Marie Jenkins from Ickford recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary together, which saw them receive a congratulatory card from the Queen.
