Insurance 'is most essential part of wedding planning'

People looking to get married should be aware that while purchasing wedding insurance for the big day seems like a boring prospect, it is the most essential element of wedding planning.

At least that is the view of E&L Insurance, which has claimed that putting such provisions in place is more important now than ever considering the economic climate.

Senior marketing assistant at the organisation Jo Mullin explained that policies are cheap and that they cover most aspects of the wedding financially.

"It covers all supplier deposits, if venues go into administration and things like that. It is not there to replace anything for the bride but it is there to help them financially so they don't lose out," she said.

This comes after Weddingsday revealed that the average cost of a UK wedding is £18,500.

According to the website, the reception mounts to around 21.5 per cent of that cost, while the honeymoon and first night hotel stay account for 18.5 per cent.
