Honeymoons 'are affected by credit crunch'

The stress of wedding planning and the excitement of the big day itself are enough to make newlyweds desperate for a honeymoon away.

So, it should come as no surprise that few couples are prepared to forego a much-deserved break after their nuptials.

However, new figures from accommodation website Hotels.com have revealed that the duration and type of honeymoon selected by new husbands and wives is being affected by the credit crunch.

According to the survey, 77 per cent of honeymooners are planning to take a holiday that is less than two weeks long, while 30 per cent intend to stay away no longer than seven days.

Moreover, 19 per cent of couples have claimed they intend to spend no more than £500 per person for their trip.

This comes after You and Your Wedding magazine's National Cost of a Wedding Survey 2008 revealed that the average cost of a wedding is £20,273.

Wedding invitations are the first step towards filling your wedding with friends and family. Make sure you do it right by getting the wedding invitations right.
