Recession leading to cut back in honeymoon spending

A survey has found that many people are planning to scale back their
honeymoon plans because of the economic problems.
US company Traveler's Joy said that 62 per cent of people who responded to its survey were planning on cutting back.
The company said: "Although the wedding and
honeymoon industry was once considered recession-proof, the results concluded that even brides and grooms are cutting back as they plan their dream wedding and honeymoon."
Some ways that people were planning on reducing the cost of a honeymoon included not indulging in luxury extras such as spa treatments, as well as holidaying closer to home.
Traveler's Joy even suggested that many were looking to eschew the usual wedding list in favour of a honeymoon registry that would allow people to pay for extras on a trip.
However, honeymoons do still remain popular, with many citing the stress of wedding planning as being a reason why a post-marriage holiday was a must.
