Zooey Deschanel 'thrilled' at Xmas engagement

American actress and singer Zooey Deschanel has announced her engagement to singer Ben Gibbard, reports reveal.

The 28-year-old Yes Man star is set to tie the knot with the 32-year-old frontman of indie rock band Death Cab for Cutie, after he popped the question over the festive holidays.

A source close to the couple told US press that they are "so thrilled…Zooey was swept off her feet, and Ben is so excited".

Zooey is best known for her roles in hit movies The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Elf, in which she co-starred with comedian Will Ferrell. She is currently starring in Yes Man alongside Jim Carey.

Meanwhile, rumours are buzzing around Hollywood that supermodel Gisele Bundchen is now engaged to boyfriend, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and starting wedding planning for 2009.

The celebrity couple have been dating for the past year and reportedly got engaged on Christmas Eve, reports speculate.
