Hitched Ltd extends its global presence with the addition of a further two countries to its expanding portfolio

Hitched Ltd has been rapidly expanding, celebrating the New Year by adding two new, eagerly awaited wedding websites in South Africa and Canada.

First established in 1997, www.hitched.co.uk is the UK’s number one wedding website. The website is the UK’s leading online authority on all things wedding related, attracting over 723,000 visits per month. The site also boasts a highly populated wedding forum and issues a monthly newsletter to over 50,000 dedicated subscribers.

EXCITING NEW TALENT RECOGNISED WITH FIRST EVER HITCHED.CO.UK BREAKTHROUGH AWARDS WINNERS

The three winners of the hitched.co.uk Breakthrough Awards (HBAs) have been announced. The innovative award scheme contained three categories, wedding cake designer, photographer and florist, and was open to professionals within a year of starting their own business.

Dean Yardley, managing director of hitched.co.uk, said: “The hitched.co.uk Breakthrough Awards is an award scheme which recognises the creativity and talent of newcomers to the wedding market using expert judges and a transparent voting system to identify the best new work of 2011. We felt it was important that the judging system included expert selection and then allowed the wedding consumers, who make up the hitched online community, the chance to vote.”

After ten entrants were shortlisted in each category by expert judges, the winners were selected by the thousands of votes from hitched.co.uk users.

Jo Stevens from Peek-a-boocakes, won best cake designer for her all chocolate three tier cake said: “It really means a lot to be to be chosen in the hitched.co.uk breakthrough awards. I used hitched.co.uk when I got married three years ago and now I look forward to being part of other people’s weddings with my cakes.”

The finalist in the floral design category was Bex Morgan from Blush floral design. Bex set up Blush in 2009, then in 2010 Beth Hall joined the team and it has gone from strength to strength ever since. Blush specialise in creating custom floral designs for all special occasions in her region.

Hannah Millard turned her passion for photography into a business a year ago. Her enthusiasm and love for her profession has shone through her work and has been awarded best wedding photographer in the HBAs.

All three winners receive a certificate, a full page on the hitched.co.uk website as well as the hitched.co.uk logo to use on all their stationery and website.

Dean Yardley continues: “We are thankful to all those that entered the HBAs. It is such an achievement to be picked out from hundreds of entries that the HBAs recognise. Providing these finalists and winners with an award from the UK’s leading wedding website will give them an extra opportunity to promote their business and we look forward to seeing them grow.”
