World poetry day 2009

World poetry day 2009, recognised by hitched.co.uk

Oscar Wilde and Edgar Allen Poe wrote poems in the past that we think you might know,
Rudyard Kipling and Keats did the same, poetry for them was their life, not a game.
Lines filled with love written words are now read,
Down the aisle, at the breakfast and wherever couples are wed.

Poetry day was mentioned in the forum on hitched.co.uk,
One very excited registered member took liberty and had her say,
E.E Cummings had written the poem she discussed,
Then another member said that the poem was a must.
Read at her wedding it made her guests cry,
Younger bridesmaids, friends, grandparents, and even, her new guy.

Did you know that hitched has a section,
And everything is dedicated to poems, speeches and readings for your selection.
Your wedding won't be complete with out a poem or two, so this area is dedicated to your wedding, and you.

To recognise World Poetry Day, 21st of March, hitched.co.uk, the UK's definitive wedding website asked its members to nominate their romantic love poems and then vote for their overall favourite. The clear winner and taking 38.4% of the vote was The One which was actually written anonymously.  Poetry is no stranger to the hitched.co.uk website. Hitched.co.uk has been accepting wedding speeches and poetry from grooms, best men, fathers of the bride and the bride herself for the past 12 years and now holds over 2000 in its database.  If you are looking for inspiration, ideas or creativity then click here to be transferred to the speeches section of hitched.co.uk where you can browse through as many poems and speeches as your romantic heart desires.
