February 25th 2009 commences the first day of Lent, the tradition of abstinence and the 40 days before Easter Sunday. In day to day life we see the number 40 appear in many other occurrences. Some say life begins at 40, it rained for 40 days and 40 nights during Noah's flood, and radio stations like to broadcast a weekly Top 40 of the most popular tunes to hit the music industry. It's not uncommon to take forty winks, the average term of a pregnancy is 40 weeks, and the Ruby is the traditional gift to give your partner on a 40th wedding anniversary.
Easter Sunday (April 12th), the celebration after the 40 days of Lent sees the start of wedding season and also falls just after spring 2009 officially begins. But if you are in the wedding planning stages, what should you be doing 40 days before your wedding? Read on to see what hitched.co.uk, the UK's number 1online wedding guide recommends........
- If you have not yet received all of your replies, now is the time to chase them in order to finalise the guest list
- Work out the seating plan for your reception and make a start on the place cards
- Have grooms arrange final measurements for attire and final fittings for the wedding dress should be booked for nearer the wedding date
- The bride should meet with hairdresser and beauty specialist for a trial run and book/secure final appointments for the morning of the wedding
- Check all transportation has been arranged and check journey time to the church
- Start to make final arrangements for the honeymoon
- Start preparing/researching change name on bills, passport etc..
- Advise caterers or venue of the final guest numbers 2 weeks before the wedding
- Confirm rehearsals for the ceremony and check that the wedding orders of service have been completed
